
David McAllister (born 12 January 1971 in West Berlin) is a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) from Germany and Chair of the Committee on Foreign Affairs (AFET) since 2019. A member of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU/EPP Group), he has served in the European Parliament since 2014. McAllister previously held several senior political positions in Germany, including Minister-President of Lower Saxony (2010–2013) and Chair of the CDU in Lower Saxony (2008–2016). He also served as Vice-Chair of the European People’s Party in the European Parliament (2018–2022). He holds a degree in Law from the University of Hanover (1996) and was active early in politics through the Junge Union. In addition to his parliamentary duties, McAllister has been a leading voice on EU foreign, security, and enlargement policy, representing the European Parliament in interparliamentary dialogues with partner countries and international organisations.
