
Thomas Byrne (born 1 June 1977, Drogheda, County Louth, Ireland) is an Irish politician, qualified solicitor and member of Fianna Fáil. He studied law at Trinity College Dublin and practised as a solicitor before entering politics. Elected as Teachta Dála (TD) for Meath East in 2007, he served in the Seanad between 2011-2016 before returning to the Dáil and, from January 2025, holds the role of Minister of State at the Department of the Taoiseach, the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (with special responsibility for European Affairs), and the Department of Defence. Throughout his career he has focused on European matters, public expenditure reform, and defence policy, bringing a combination of legal expertise and parliamentary experience to Ireland’s European and trans-Atlantic responsibilities.
