
We invite journalists working for broadcast, online, and print media in EU Member States to apply for a press trip to Montenegro, taking place from 22 to 26 September 2025 (including travel days on 22 and 26 september).
Organised by the European Commission, DG ENEST, the trip will give you a firsthand look at how the EU is supporting Montenegro and paving the way for its EU accession. Through field visits and meetings, participants will gain a deeper understanding of the EU's role in driving reforms, fostering economic growth, and promoting environmental protection in Montenegro.
You will have direct access to EU representatives, senior Montenegrin officials, civil society, and local beneficiaries of EU-funded projects, providing a unique opportunity for interviews, on-the-record quotes, and original reporting from the ground.
You will be able to cover the following:
- Exchange with Johann Sattler, the European Union's Ambassador to Montenegro;
- Visits to EU-supported rural businesses;
- Meetings with high-level government officials;
- Discussions with civil society representatives and opposition MPs;
- Exploring sites of biodiversity and sustainable tourism efforts;
- Networking lunch with Montenegrin journalists and editors.

Selected participants will receive further information on the programme and logistics. Travel, accommodation, meals and local transport will be arranged and covered by the organiser.
Please note: only 18 places are available, and priority will be given to journalists with a demonstrated interest in the EU affairs, EU enlargement, and/or regional affairs in the Balkans.
