Vice-President Katainen and Commissioners Hahn, Moscovici, and Vella will be on a joint mission to Turkey on 24-25 April. In Istanbul they will meet some of the country's key interlocutors – including Deputy Prime Minister Şimşek and Minister for EU affairs Volkan Bozkir, as well as leaders of business organisations and representatives of International Financial Institutions.

Vice-President Katainen and Commissioner Vella will also visit the Eurasia tunnel project which was partly EU-funded. In Ankara, Vice-President Katainen and Commissioner Moscovici will speak at sessions on the Investment Plan for Europe and key aspects of economic policy. Commissioner Moscovici is also expected to meet with Minister of Finance Naci Ağbal. Commissioner Hahn will leave to the South East of Turkey on Monday evening to visit several key projects funded either from the Facility for Refugees in Turkey or, concerning infrastructure, under IPA pre-accession support to Turkey. These projects support refugees from Syria and local host communities in the regions most affected by the crisis. Photos of the visit will be available on EbS.
