Call for applications now open for the 2025 6th EU Award for Roma integration in the Western Balkans and Türkiye

The call for applications for the sixth edition of the EU Award for Roma[1] integration in the Western Balkans and Türkiye is now open. This edition is dedicated to the positive achievements for Roma inclusion in the sector of education.

Roma integration is a key priority in the EU enlargement process, and the European Commission is committed to support and recognize the work done by Roma and non-Roma stakeholders (e.g. public institutions, private companies, and civil society organizations) on this domain. The EU Award for Roma Integration in the Western Balkans and Türkiye aims to boost political commitment and support Roma integration in the Western Balkans and Türkiye. It recognizes initiatives that have contributed to change the lives of Roma people and that could be further replicated.

The first edition of the award recognized the important role played by organizations working for Roma integration. The second edition promoted inclusion, integration and empowerment of Roma youth. The third edition was dedicated to the “Unknown Heroes”, Roma women who through their work and commitment improved the social integration of Roma or brought positive change to their communities. The fourth edition was dedicated to the extraordinary people who promote equality through employment, and the fifth edition promoted Roma inclusion in the Green and Digital transition.

The award is funded by the European Union and implemented by Roma Active Albania.

Deadline to apply: 28 February
