Commissioner Kos on European Mission to Boost Enlargement Agenda and Support Candidate Countries

Today, Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos embarked on a mission to Copenhagen, Berlin, and Paris, aimed at strengthening political momentum and public support for EU enlargement across Member States.

In Denmark (22 May), Commissioner Kos met with Minister for European Affairs Marie Bjerre to discuss Denmark’s priorities for its 2025 Council Presidency. Her visit also included a high-level roundtable at the Danish Chamber of Commerce, where Nordic and Danish business leaders explored EU-supported opportunities for sustainable investment in Ukraine.

In Germany (23 May), Commissioner Kos will mark the formation of the new federal government and welcome its strong commitment to the gradual integration of Ukraine, Moldova, and the Western Balkans. She will hold bilateral meetings with Minister of State for European Affairs Gunther Krichbaum and Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul, and participate in the EU Ambassadors Conference hosted by the German Federal Foreign Office.

In France (26 May), Commissioner Kos will meet Minister Delegate for European Affairs Benjamin Haddad and take part in a roundtable on Ukraine’s reconstruction organised by the Mouvement des Entreprises de France (MEDEF).

Beyond bilateral meetings, the mission will also lay the foundations for a new network of influential women from academia, business, and civil society to support future enlargement and advance their participation in the EU integration process of candidate countries.
